Bittrex Account Verification
The teams of software engineers working behind crypto exchanges put a lot of energy into finding new solutions for impenetrable security systems that would protect their customers’ funds from thefts and frauds.
The crypto market still remains heavily unregulated and decentralized for the most part. If someone steals your digital coins, there’s really no place to turn to. That’s why exchanges try to prevent such unfortunate scenarios by investing in their security methods.
In 2014, a group of security engineers, Bill Shihara, Richi Lai, and Rami Kawach, designed Bittrex, a trustworthy crypto exchange initially headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada and then relocated to Seattle, Washington. Bittrex’s founders all have impressive work experience as former employees in the security departments of industry giants like Microsoft, Amazon, and BlackBerry.
Their joint efforts have created a platform that values security above all and takes great care to ensure its customers are reliable as well, which is why some traders find their verification process a bit tiresome and confusing. Today, we’ll go step by step and explain to you how to verify your Bittrex account.
Register for an Account
The first step is to register with the platform and create your Bittrex account. Visit the exchange’s official website and go to Account > Register. You’ll be asked to type in your email address which will be your username whenever you log in. You also need to choose a strong password of minimum 8 characters. We recommend including numbers, symbols, and capital letters.
Bittrex wants to be sure that the email address from your application really belongs to you. They will send a verification email to your mailbox. Click on the link in the email to verify your email address. You’ll be asked to read the terms of service and confirm that you agree with them.
Once that’s done, it’s time to provide personal information to finalize your account. Bittrex needs your date of birth, address, and place of residence. The platform recognizes English characters only so make sure you don’t include any special characters by mistake that the system won’t process.
Verify Your Identity
The most important step is to verify your identity. Bittrex employs a twofold verification and requires both a government-issued ID and an actual photo of you. This can only be done on the web-based platform because the mobile app doesn’t have this feature yet.
Bittrex is not selective when it comes to the type of ID document you submit but going with your password might be best. This ID is universal, has Latin letters only, and it’s accepted everywhere in the world. This advice is especially useful if you’re not a US citizen. You can take a photo of the document or send them a scanned copy instead. Make sure the document is neat and legible.
As for the photo, it must be a selfie. If your computer doesn’t have a camera, you can select “Switch to mobile” to complete this step only. You’re not allowed to provide the same photo as the one on your ID document. This is the most common cause of verification failures. If you make a mistake, you have two additional attempts to solve it. Otherwise, you’ll have to wait for a Bittrex customer support representative to assist you.
Verify Your I.P. Address
You’re almost done!
The final step is to verify your I.P. address and this is done the first time you log in to your Bittrex account. This is the last security measure that safeguards your funds, and you only have to do it once. Later on, if you want to add a new I.P. address, you must confirm it from the device that has the initial I.P. address.
Congratulations, you made it! You have verified your Bittrex account and are now ready to trade!
