Key Takeaways:

  • Ripple secures DFSA license to provide cross-border crypto payments in the UAE, officially operating within Dubai’s DIFC.
  • The approval enables Ripple to serve financial institutions, integrating digital assets into real-world applications.
  • Ripple becomes the first blockchain-enabled payments provider authorized to operate in Dubai’s DIFC free zone.

Ripple has received full regulatory approval from the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) to offer cross-border crypto payment services in the UAE.

This approval allows Ripple to operate within the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), a major financial hub with its own regulatory framework.

The announcement, made on March 13, comes nearly six months after Ripple initially secured in-principle approval from the DFSA.

With this license, the company can now provide blockchain-based payment solutions to businesses across the UAE, catering to both crypto-native firms and traditional financial institutions seeking to integrate digital assets into real-world applications.

Ripple highlighted growing demand for cross-border payments in the Middle East, positioning the UAE as a key market for its services.

DIFC CEO Arif Amiri confirmed that Ripple is now the first blockchain-enabled payments provider licensed to operate within the DIFC free zone, calling it a significant step for the company’s regional expansion

He also noted that the approval opens new opportunities for Ripple in the UAE and the broader Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

This regulatory milestone strengthens Ripple’s presence in Dubai, further solidifying its role in the global digital payments landscape.
