A UK-based crypto broker made a dramatic escape from kidnappers in Spain by leaping 30 feet from a balcony, breaking both ankles in the process.

The broker was lured to an apartment in Estepona under the pretense of having drinks but was instead confronted by three British men who demanded €30,000 ($30,917).

The kidnappers threatened to torture and kill him if he did not comply.

Thinking quickly, the victim contacted a friend in London under the guise of calling a customer for access codes.

The friend alerted his mother, who then notified the police. Spanish authorities tracked the location and intervened.

As officers arrived, the captors became distracted, giving the broker a chance to escape.

Attempting to climb down from the balcony, he fell and was seriously injured.

Police discovered two firearms, €10,000 in cash, a money counter, three knives, and 25 grams of pink cocaine at the crime scene.

The three suspects were arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including kidnapping, wounding, illegal possession of weapons, and drug trafficking.

Following a court hearing, they were remanded into custody.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment and is expected to recover.
