Bitstamp brings over 50 licenses and a strong institutional client base, with more than 5,000 institutional and 50,000 retail customers, most of its trading volume coming from institutions.
The deal, initially announced in June 2024, is part of Robinhood’s broader international growth strategy.
Integration is already underway, connecting Bitstamp’s platform to Robinhood’s Smart Exchange Routing and Legend systems.
Robinhood expects around $65 million in expenses related to the acquisition through 2025.
Bitstamp generated $95 million in revenue over the past year, while Robinhood’s crypto division earned $252 million in Q1 2025 alone.
This acquisition follows Robinhood’s May announcement to buy Canadian crypto firm WonderFi for $179 million.
According to Robinhood Crypto General Manager Johann Kerbrat, such deals can accelerate growth by 18 months to two years.
