Crypto or blockchain games have been becoming increasingly popular in recent times, many of these games have their own tokens which players can purchase or earn when playing the game. This has given them the name Play To Earn (PTE) Games, the internet is now awash with these style games, but some are more popular than others.
By studying the social popularity of games, as well as the value and availability of their tokens we have been able to identify the best crypto games on the market right now.
The games that dominate the crypto gaming scene are the ones with the highest market cap, the value of the full amount of available tokens shows the overall worth of the game. Only five games have a market cap in the billions, and only two in the tens of billions: Axie Infinity has a fully diluted market cap of almost $16 billion, which is over ten billion more than third-placed Decentraland. The average market cap value of all the crypto games studied is $1.25 billion.

Only five crypto games have seen a reduction in the number of Google searches from the first six months of the year to the second, this shows that the crypto gaming industry as a whole is flourishing. CryptoMines and Bomb Crypto had by far the biggest increases, with both seeing six-figure percentage changes from hundreds to millions. They were so far ahead of the rest of the games that the average score was higher than third-placed Metaverse Miner.
There is a great range in the value of tokens for crypto games, ranging from fractions of a penny to thousands of dollars; the average cost of the tokens ranked is $63.80. By far the most expensive game tokens are from Yo Hero, their ‘YO’ token is valued at just over $2,021. The peak token price is the highest value that a crypto games’ token has ever achieved, consequently, games whose tokens current values are closest to the peak value have held their value the best. Aavegotchi tokens are currently the highest performing by this metric, as their current value is over 65% of the peak. The average current value of tokens is 16.3% of the average peak value.
It was close at the top as Cross Link just achieved the highest amount traded in 24 hours, at over $474 million. Decetraland is the game with the second highest amount traded during a 24 hour period as over $460 million has been exchanged between players. This amount massively trumps third-placed Axie Infinity, there was only $201 million traded for that game, less than half that of Decentraland.

The game with the highest amount of tokens mined and available allows the game the greatest scope for mass expansion and leaves more tokens available for players to buy. Consequently, a large amount may dilute the value in the short term, but is a long term asset for the game. The average amount was over 28 trillion, however, a large factor in this is the gargantuan quadrillion tokens available for the Crusaders of Crypto game.

A list of 50 games was compiled from the most popular (not counting those still in development) on ChainPlay.
The list was reduced by removing any games with insufficient data available.
We then analysed each game on the following factors, giving each a normalised score out of ten for each factor, before taking a final average across all factors.
Google searches were found using Google Ads Keyword Planner, taking global searches between Feb 21 and Jan 22.
Price, peak price, market cap, trading volume, and total supply were all sourced from the individual games page on ChainPlay. Eg. Axie Infinity.
